we try to make people understand what is Unicode and what the history
of Unicode for Bangla Language. What we want to do here is to collect
information on Unicode & Bangla then show it to millions of Bangali
people who are interested to know about it around the world. You can
also say that this site is a Blog of Unicode and Bangla.

||JaFola Issue||
After we got KhandaTa, Dr. Gautam Sengupta, Professor of Applied
Linguistics, Center for Applied Linguistics & Translation Studies,
University of Hyderabad, INDIA, Proposed Unicode to add JaFola
(formally known as YaPhalaa) as a
Unique letter. You have to read the proposal to know why he wants to
add JaFola as a unique character.

||Microsoft's new Bangla font looks good||
Microsoft Released official Bangla support with Windows XP
Service Pack 2. But the default Bangla font (Vrinda) was not so good
and lots of people ware complaining about it. This time MS people
decided to change the look of Vrinda. We present you the preview of
next version of Vrinda, which is made by Agfa Monotype. Right now we
don't know what is the release date and which product they will deliver
you the font. But as soon as we know, you will know this too.

||We Got KhandaTa||
So finally
Unicode added KhandaTa as a Unique character in the Bangla block of
Unicode 4.1
codepage. The code for KhandaTa is U+09CE. You can see the whole issue.

||Microsoft's Bangla
Font||
You may want to see what Microsoft is making. I mean what
Microsoft's Bangla font will look like. Well, Microsoft is going to
supply Bangla support with Service Pack 2 of Windows XP in September
2004. As far I know there will be 3 Bangla fonts coming with the pack
(although the SP2 RC2 Build: 2149 doesn't have any

After passing so long time, Unicode and Microsoft decided to
take some advices from mass people who thinks for Bangla. With the help
of Microsoft, Unicode released a document for public review. Anyone can
see this and say their comments to Unicode. You can also see the

||A Proposal 2 Unicode
from
Microsoft||
Working with Bangla UI font, Paul Nelson of Microsoft faced a
lot of problems and then he proposed Unicode for applying some new
rules. You can learn about this proposal too. Unicode made this
proposal open to public, but we found that they removed that for some
unknown reasons. So this is here for you.
